Marius Ștefănescu (27 years old) is like gone from Konyaspor. The Romanian midfielder is not part of coach Cagdas Atan's plans, who decided not to include him in the squad for this winter's training camp.

Marius Ștefănescu was bought from FCSB for 300,000 euros in the summer of 2025, after Gigi Becali had paid a million euros more just a year before to transfer him from Sepsi.

The coach of Konyaspor no longer counts on Marius Ștefănescu: “I made this plan”

Starting with this camp, Calusic, Pedrinho, Ștefănescu and Macahit will no longer be with us. I made this plan“, said coach Cagdas Atan, according to yenimeram.com.

Marius Ștefănescu ticked only 11 matches at Konyaspor, averaging only 23 minutes played per match.

Ștefănescu was only an unused reserve in the last 4 stages of the Turkish championship and he only made two appearances in December, both in the cup, where he played 19 and 5 minutes, respectively.

Before Konyaspor, Marius Ștefănescu played 49 matches and scored 9 goals for FCSB. His best spell remains at Sepsi OSK: 37 goals and 26 assists in 191 appearances.

Marius Ștefănescu can only return to Romania this season at FCSB

Marius Ștefănescu has already played for two teams this season, FCSB and Konyaspor, and according to FIFA regulations, the Romanian is prohibited from playing for a third team during the same season.

Thus, Marius Ștefănescu can return to Romania only at FCSB this season, an unlikely fact considering the way Gigi Becali gave up his services, giving up even one million euros to get rid of the player.

The Romanian can play this season only in the championships that start in the winter, such as those in the United States of America, Australia, China, Japan or South Korea.
