I don’t buy powdered sugar anymore – I pray at home in 1 minute

If you make cakes, cookies or desserts, you've probably encountered a situation: the recipe calls for powdered sugar, but there's only regular sugar in the cupboard. Instead of going to the store or using sugar that won't give you the texture you want, you can make powder at home in a minute and without effort.

This not only saves money, but also guarantees a pure composition without starch, preservatives and anti-clumps with unclear names.

You will need:

Granulated sugar – 100 g
vanilla sugar or vanillin – on the tip of a knife
You don't need starch if you use it right away. If you want to store, add half a teaspoon of potato starch per 100 g of sugar to prevent caking.

How to cook:

  • Pour sugar into the bowl of a blender or coffee grinder.
  • Grind for 30-60 seconds until the sugar becomes fine and powdery.
  • Sift through a fine sieve if any grains remain.
  • Use immediately for frosting, meringue or topping.
  • If storing, place in a dry jar with a tight lid.

Bon appetit!

Question and answer:

Is it possible to make powdered sugar at home without a blender?
You can use a coffee grinder or mortar, but a blender gives the finest grind. Important: the sugar must be dry, otherwise it will clump.

Why does my homemade powder clump?
Most likely, the sugar was wet or the blender was not powerful enough. Dry the sugar for 5 minutes in the oven at 50 degrees, then grind.
