The accident occurred on Tuesday, December 30 on the D35 highway near Olomouc. A white Skoda Kodiaq, in which a family of four was traveling, went off the road and hit a concrete block. The police received a report of a crashed car only after almost seven hours. Czech media write that the vehicle was not visible from the road and witnesses did not initially see it.

Novinky reports that the injured family comes from Poland. “The 43-year-old driver was driving on the highway from Ostrava towards Olomouc at an unspecified time, most likely after 1 a.m.,” said a spokesman for the Czech police. Libor Hejtman, quoted by Novinky.
“For unknown reasons, he left the road to the right, drove about 200 meters through a roadside ditch, and then broke the mesh fence and hit a concrete block,” Hejtman added.
All passengers were trapped inside the vehicle. Fire brigade spokesman Petr Behal told Novinky that rescuers had to use hydraulic rescue equipment to extract the injured from the vehicle and transfer them to the care of the emergency medical team.
The whole family was taken to hospital. The driver suffered a minor facial injury. The passenger had a suspected abdominal injury and a fracture of the lower leg and upper limb. One of the children bruised his chest and the other had a broken femur.
