“I just spoke on the phone with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He informed me that Nicolas Maduro has been arrested by US officials to stand trial in a criminal trial in the United States and that the kinetic action we witnessed this evening was intended to protect and defend those executing arrest warrants. This action likely falls within the scope of the president's inherent authority under Article II of the Constitution to protect U.S. personnel from actual or imminent attack,” Republican Senator Mike Lee wrote on X, justifying the attack on Venezuela.
Mike Lee also added that, according to Rubio, the US does not plan any further attacks on Venezuela.
