Marius Ștefănescu (27 years old) has his days at Konyaspor numbered. The Romanian is no longer part of coach Cagdas Atan's plans and has been put on the list of dispensable players.
Bought by Konyaspor from FCSB for 300,000 euros in the summer of 2025, Marius Ștefănescu failed to establish himself at his new team. During his 5 months in Turkey he was used in only 11 games, playing an average of just 23 minutes per game.
The Romanian hoped to get more chances with the installation of Cagdas Atan on the technical bench, but it has been even worse since then, being left on the bench in the last 4 stages of the championship.
Marius Ștefănescu's days at Konyaspor are numbered
The local press now writes that Ștefănescu is not part of the new coach's plans for the second part of the season and that “it will be among the first to leave“, alongside Pedrinho and Josip Calusic.
According to Merhaba Gazetesi, Konyaspor's coach has already sent the management the list of players he no longer wants in the team. Thus, it is likely that Ștefănescu will leave in January to make room for other players in the squad.
The former Romanian international scored only one goal for Konyaspor, that one in the Turkish Cup.
Before Konyaspor, Marius Ștefănescu played 49 matches and scored 9 goals for FCSB. His best spell remains at Sepsi OSK: 37 goals and 26 assists in 191 appearances.
