The Romanian international Ionuț Radu (28 years old), named Celta Vigo's best player this season, expressed his intention to stay at the La Liga club in the next season as well.
The Romanian goalkeeper was the only Celta Vigo player to score in every La Liga game this season, making a total of 50 appearances in all competitions.
Ionuț Radu stays at Celta Vigo: “It is my home”
“I am very happy for the team, for the city, for the fans, for everything that has happened this year. I am very grateful. We have to enjoy the good times, we have an incredible group.
We managed to overcome the negative period we went through. To me, we are like a family, and that is our strength. We are looking forward to next season to achieve even more, because I know we can be better”, said Ionuț Radu, according to Marca.
The Romanian international also announced his intention to stay at Celta Vigo: “It's my house. I really like it here. I stay. I don't even have to think about it. Celta has given me a lot, and I want to give a lot back to the club“.
Celta Vigo finished the La Liga season in 6th place, thus ensuring their presence in the next season's Europa League.
Ionuț Radu scored all 38 matches in the Spanish championship and managed to keep a clean sheet in 10 games.
The Romanian international arrived at Celta Vigo last summer, free of contract after parting with Venezia. Having gone through Inter's academy, Ionuț Radu also played for Avellino, Genoa, Parma, Cremonese, Auxerre and Bournemouth.
Thus, the Bundesliga is the only one of the top 5 championships in Europe in which Ionuț Radu did not perform.
Ionuț Radu was summoned by the selector Gică Hagi to the squad for the friendly matches with Wales and Georgia. The other two goalkeepers chosen by the “king” are Marian Aioani from Rapid and Otto Hindrich from Legia Warsaw.
