Former Premier League player sentenced to a year in prison

Egyptian international Ramadan Sobhi (28), a former Premier League player for Stoke City and Huddersfield Town, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Criminal Court in Giza, Egypt.
The 28-year-old attacker is accused of forging official documents and presenting another person for exams in his name at a private tourism and hospitality institute in Giza. Several people were going to take exams in place of the current defendant in exchange for money.

Egypt international Ramadan Sobhi, who helped Pyramids win their first African Champions League title last season, has been sentenced to a year in prison in a fraud case, according to sportal.bg.
Sobhi, a former footballer with English teams Stoke City and Huddersfield, was arrested in July on his return from Turkey, where Pyramids had a training camp. The 28-year-old attacker is accused of forging official documents and presenting another person for exams in his name at a private tourism and hospitality institute in Giza.
Several people were going to take exams in place of the current defendant in exchange for money, according to the previously mentioned source.
The Giza Criminal Court sentenced Sobhi to one year in prison on Tuesdayand the athlete's lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment on the punishment.

Ramadan Sobhi also faces a four-year suspension from sporting activity after the Court of Arbitration for Sport has already confirmed anti-doping rule violations. The forward has 37 caps for Egypt's national team. In 2020, Sobhi moved to Pyramids after spells at Stoke, Huddersfield and Al-Ahly.
The player ticked off 45 matches in the Premier League, for the two aforementioned teams.
