The lighting of fireworks near the Eiffel Tower resulted in dozens of arrests

Dozens of people were detained after setting off smoke bombs and fireworks in central Paris, French media reported on Saturday, according to the DPA news agency.

The group of people would have been in the famous Trocadero square, near the Eiffel Tower in the French capital, notes Agerpres.

The BFMTV television station reported that police officers intervened after noticing the fireworks on surveillance camera images.

About 40 people were detained.

No one was injured in the incident, according to Le Parisien newspaper.

The police opened an investigation into this incident, BFMTV also reported.
