The multiple medalist in swimming, David Popovici (21 years old), had repeated calls asking for new pools and better conditions for those who practice performance sports in which he brought important medals to Romania. While in Bucharest the investments are slow to appear, in Sovata a didactic swimming pool has just been inaugurated.
Minister Cseke Attila inaugurated the new pool in Sovata, the first images of the investment, which amounted to 23 million lei, were posted on social networks, from the moment of reception.
“It is the first pool built according to the new type project, approved in 2022, more energy efficient and economical, with larger dimensions than those built according to the projects before 2022a larger indoor space, bleachers for spectators and halls that can be equipped as fitness spaces, thus giving children and young people the opportunity to learn to swim, practice sports and lead a healthy lifestyle”, said the representatives of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.

New swimming pool, inaugurated in Sovata
The new swimming pool inaugurated in Sovata, in Mureș county, was financed by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, through the National Investment Company, and has six swimming lanes, modern block-starts, an anti-slip guard area, bleachers for 124 spectators, a strength room and one for aerobic gymnastics, as well as a changing room.
As for the finishes, the interior ones are made of materials that prevent the development of microorganisms, the initiators also announced.
“To increase energy efficiency, the pool is equipped with a system for producing energy from renewable sources, i.e. photovoltaic panels. The new sports complex was designed according to the standards of the Romanian Swimming Federation and Modern Pentathlon, being intended both for initiation into swimming for children and young people, as well as for recreational and training activities”it is stated in the press release sent by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.
Well, you still find me today with disappointment. As far as I know, not much has been done about the Lia Manoliu pool, the one inside, which is in great need of renovation. That air will come again, in which I still managed to perform, but I am absolutely convinced that if we had the top conditions, as they are in other countries and also in other cities, I am convinced that many more children would have the chance to compete.
