Mourning in Craiova! The former legendary player, nicknamed the “law of the lawn”, died this morning

Constantin Bâtlan, the former great player of Craiova, died on Saturday, May 17, at the age of 83.
Sad news in Romanian football. Constantin Bâtlan died this morning. The cause of death has not yet been made public.
Constantin Bâtlan was the goalkeeper of Craiova in two periods 1960-1962 and 1964-1972. Between 1962 and 1964 he defended the gate of Poli Timișoara. He has ended his career as a player at Electroputere, and in recent decades he has dealt with the field of the team in Bănie, being nicknamed the “parent of the lawn”.
Titi Bâtlan was originally from Constanța and started in the first echelon of Romanian football in 1959, in the T -shirt of Farul.

The sad news was given by Craiova University, the team financed by Mihai Rotaru. “Sad news: Today, Constantin Bâtlan, the former player of science, left us. Thank you for all the unforgettable memories. God rest in peace!”, The Oltenians wrote on Facebook.
The former footballer was part of the team of ambassadors of Craiova University, along with other legendary names, such as Silvian Cristescu, Rodion Cămătaru or Sorin Cârțu.
Throughout his career, Bâtlan has collected 176 matches and 9 goals in the first league of Romania. He also has a match in the European Cups. He played in the match lost by the science in front of the Hungarians from PSCS Dosza, score 0-3, in the Târguri cities Cup. The match was played in 1970. It was the first edition of the European Cup in which the Oltenians took part.
