According to the Cluj County Police Inspectorate, the intervention took place on December 19, in the Mănăștur neighborhood, where the woman would have offered for sale pyrotechnic articles from categories P1 and F2, without having the legal right to carry out such activities.
As a result of the action, the law enforcement officers identified and lifted approximately 1,700 kilograms of illegally possessed pyrotechnic articles. The investigations continue under the coordination of the competent prosecutor's office, and upon their completion, the necessary legal measures will be ordered.
Tougher penalties for using firecrackers and fireworks
Authorities point out that the legislation on pyrotechnic articles has recently changed, and most of them are now prohibited for unauthorized persons. Those who use or sell fireworks illegally face severe penalties, including imprisonment.
Although the law clearly states that pyrotechnic products can only be bought by authorized persons, with the qualification of pyrotechnician, there are still many sites on the Internet that sell them freely. Access is done, most of the time, only by checking a box through which the buyer declares that he is over 18 years old, without other checks.
Prior to the legislative changes, pyrotechnic articles in the F1 category could be purchased from the age of 15, those from the F2 category from the age of 18, and those from the F3 category from the age of 21. However, the new regulations drastically restrict access to such products in an attempt to prevent accidents and serious incidents during the holiday season.
