Siberians told how they will relax during the New Year holidays

The results of a survey* by VTB showed that 31% of Siberians plan to attend cultural events during the New Year holidays, and another 57% of Siberian residents are ready to join if they find interesting events for themselves.
During the New Year holidays, a third of Russians surveyed (33%) have already planned trips to theatres, museums, cinemas and concerts. Almost half of the respondents (49%) do not rule out that they will go to events if they find interesting options in the posters.
Residents of the Southern (38%) and Ural (36%) federal districts, as well as Muscovites (36%) plan to attend cultural events the most. In Siberia, 31% of those surveyed will definitely do this, another 57% do not exclude this possibility if some events interest them.
The most popular forms of cultural recreation this winter are cinema (64%), concerts (51%) and theater (40%). The share of movie lovers in Siberia is slightly higher than the national average – 65%; 46% of respondents will attend concerts. But lovers of museums and exhibitions among Siberians turned out to be only 23% – the lowest result in the country.

The majority of respondents are going to spend cultural leisure time with their family: 61% will go to events with their spouse (57% in Siberia), 47% with children (45% of Siberians), 41% with friends (39% in the Siberian Federal District). 19% of respondents will spend their holidays with their parents (21% in Siberia), and 6% prefer cultural leisure alone.
Russians assign a special role to the Pushkin Card in expanding access to cultural events: 70% of respondents agree that thanks to it, cultural events have become more accessible for young people. Almost half of the parents (44%) have children who use the Pushkin card, and among families where young people have issued a card, the majority plan to use it during the New Year holidays. Thus, with the Pushkin Card, tickets are most often purchased for movies (57%), theaters (38%), museums (33%) and concerts (32%).
“More and more Russians are planning to spend their weekends not only actively, but also culturally – visiting museums, theaters, cinemas and concerts. Every third participant in our survey plans to go to cultural events more often this year and do it with the whole family,” said Alexey Okhorzin, Senior Vice President, Head of VTB Retail Business Products Department.
Let us remind you that from January 1, 2026, VTB will become the operating bank of the Pushkin card.
*The survey was conducted in December 2025 among 1,500 Russians aged 18 to 65 years in cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people.
