Reuters was unable to immediately determine the extent of the possible leak, but at least three former Pornhub users – two from Canada and one from the United States – confirmed that the data relating to them was genuine, albeit many years old.
ShinyHunters claims to have the data of 14 users of the premium service Pornhub. Reuters was able to match the six people's data with information from previous leaks stored by darknet intelligence company District 4 Labs.
In an online chat with Reuters, the hackers said they were demanding a ransom in Bitcoin to prevent Pornhub from publishing the data and have it deleted.
Pornhub and its corporate owners, the Canadian company Ethical Capital Partners, have not yet commented on the incident to reporters. At the same time, the security breach was previously reported by the cybersecurity site Bleeping Computer.
Last week, PornHub confirmed that it had been impacted by a data breach at third-party analytics provider Mixpanel. According to media reports, Mixpanel was the victim of an attack on November 8, 2025 – attackers used SMS phishing to gain access to its systems.
Bleeping Computer cites a statement from PornHub's security team, which states that the incident only affected select Pornhub Premium users. The company noted that the service’s own systems were not hacked, and users’ passwords, payment and financial data remained protected, the material noted.
Pornhub also said that it stopped collaborating with Mixpanel back in 2021. This means that the stolen data is historical in nature and dates back to 2021 or earlier.
Mixpanel said the data breach affected a “limited number” of customers. At the same time, this is the first publicly confirmed case where responsibility for the Mixpanel data leak is linked specifically to the ShinyHunters hacker group, Bleeping Computer reports.
According to Reuters, the ShinyHunters group is known for a series of high-profile hacks and blackmail attempts in recent months, including data from clients of Salesforce (a major US IT company) and premium retailers in the UK.
