China's newest warship off the coast of Taiwan. The first such cruise


The ministry reported that the ship, without any planes on board, crossed the strait on Tuesday, and the Taiwanese armed forces monitored the cruise.

Chinese state media reported in early November that the aircraft carrier had entered service. This is the third ship of this type in service with the Chinese army, but the first designed and built in the country. It is equipped with electromagnetic catapults, enabling aircraft with heavier loads to take off.
Beijing considers the Taiwan Strait, one of the world's most important trade routes, as its territorial waters. This position is opposed by the United States and its allies, who consider it to be international waters.
Chinese military activity around the island is part of a campaign of growing military and diplomatic pressure that Beijing is exerting on democratically ruled Taiwan. China considers the island its territory and does not rule out using force to take control of it.
In response to the threat, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te announced increased defense spending.
