Schoof will reportedly receive Zelensky at lunchtime in Katshuis, along with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Wiel and Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
During the meeting, they will discuss negotiations on a “peace plan” to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Netherlands’ continued support for Ukraine.
After this, Zelensky will be received by King Willem Alexander at the Huis ten Bosch Palace.
Earlier in the day, Schoof will speak at an international ministerial conference on the founding treaty establishing the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
This conference will take place under the auspices of the Council of Europe and the Netherlands in The Hague.
On the night of December 16, presidential adviser Dmitry Lytvyn told reporters that Zelensky had already arrived in the Netherlands.
Context
Zelensky on December 14 and 15 in Berlin held negotiations with the American delegation on a “peace plan” for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war. After this, Zelensky met with European leaders. US President Donald Trump spoke with them.
At the end of the meeting, Zelensky answered questions from the media while en route on board the plane. In particular, he said that the United States supported the idea of introducing a ceasefire in Ukraine at Christmas, answered what would happen if the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the US “peace plan”, and stated that Ukraine “neither de jure nor de facto” would recognize the Donbass as Russian, which is what Moscow wants.
