The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance continues to expand the range of affordable models developed on the CMF-B platform, an architecture also used by the new Dacia Duster for international markets. The newest member of this family is the Nissan Kait, a B-segment SUV officially launched in Brazil.
The new model does not replace the current Kicks, but complements Nissan's range in emerging markets. Even though it shares some elements with the Kicks, the Kait comes with a completely new design, additional features and a host of updated technologies. The SUV uses the “low specs” version of the CMF-B platform, the same one on which the Duster sold outside of Europe under the Renault logo is built.

The Japanese manufacturer has not yet provided all the specifications, but confirmed that the trunk of the Kait model has 432 liters, a value very close to that offered by the Dacia Duster. Nissan emphasizes in the presentation the emphasis on elegance, space and safety, positioning the new SUV as a key model for the LATAM region. Kait's production will take place at the Resende Industrial Complex in Brazil, from where it will be exported to more than 20 international markets.
“The Nissan Kait project stems from Nissan's global experience in the development of SUVs that integrate solutions adapted to the needs of Latin American consumers, strengthening our presence in an extremely competitive segment”, said Guy Rodriguez, president of Nissan Latin America.
He stated that the debut in Brazil and Latin America marks an important moment for the brand and that the model inherits the “robustness, reliability and quality” of the platform used.
Nissan will announce the technical specifications for each market at the time of the local launch, which implies differences in the engine department. For now, information is confirmed about the 1.0 turbo 125 hp engine, produced by Horse in South America and also used by the Renault Kardian, as well as the CVT box, already used on other Nissan models.
In parallel, the manufacturer also recently introduced the Nissan Tekton model in India, another compact SUV that uses the same platform and components as the Dacia Duster. It will be produced in Renault's wholly-owned Indian plant and will be exported to numerous markets in the region.
We are proud to manufacture and market this vehicle first in Brazil and Latin America and I am confident that it will be embraced by our customers in our region, inheriting key elements of robustness, reliability and quality from our best-selling platform.
