As reported by Andrzej Szary from NSZZ Policemen, officers have been waiting for housing benefits for several years.
— We finally managed to convince the minister to introduce this solution, and now we are waiting for the money to be transferred to the officers' accounts as soon as possible, he said.
Szary added that Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Wiesław Szczepański informed him on Wednesday that is the consent of the Minister of Finance to release the special-purpose reserve.
– From Monday, due to the scale of this project, these funds will be paid out in individual voivodeships – he said.
Money with compensation
He added that by Christmas, the money, with compensation from July 1, should be in the accounts of all officers.
On the website of NSZZ Policemen, the union wrote that “the decision means that the long-awaited benefit, recorded in the agreement of March 6, 2025.which the Police NSZZ has negotiated and won over the years, is becoming real financial support for officers throughout Poland.” “This is a solution that the union has been seeking for a long time – with a view to improving the social and housing conditions of police officers in the era of rising living costs,” we read.
Further in the letter, the Police NSZZ assured that it would continue activities “aimed at further improving the situation of officers and ensuring that information about key decisions is provided in a transparent and calm manner.”
The Ministry of Interior and Administration announced payments to officers on Thursday. The ministry wrote on the X platform that police officers, Border Guard, State Fire Service and SOP will soon receive housing benefits.
“Officers may submit applications for payment of benefits until December 15, 2025 with the possibility of compensation from July this year.“- we read.
Amount of housing benefit for police officers
As the Ministry of Interior and Administration reminded us, the housing benefit is an allowance that officers are entitled to up to PLN 1,800 per month.
“The money is not taxed and does not conflict with other official benefits. It is pure profit for officers, which in many places will allow for covering a large part of the rent or mortgage” – it was written.
