Minister of the Environment: I will not resign / About the dismissal requested by the PSD: There is no scenario in which the Coalition can blackmail a minister

After the PSD asked Prime Minister Bolojan to dismiss her, the Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, says that she has no intention of leaving her position and that she will continue the reforms. She claimed that, in the water crisis in Prahova and Dâmbovița, the Ministry of the Environment was notified of the seriousness of the situation only after four days.
She was asked by journalists, in a press conference, if Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asked her to resign. “No. I will not resign. It will be worse than that, I will continue the reforms”, replied Buzăianu.
“There is no scenario in which this Coalition can blackmail any minister who wants to make reforms that, if those reforms do not come out and if those reforms are blocked, any party leaves this coalition. There is no such scenario,” she continued.

According to Buzoianu, the only person who created a national scandal and induced panic among the population was the director of the regional water operator ESZ Prahova, who lied that the ministry would have put pressure on those in the territory to deliver non-potable water to the tap.
“Something that was proven not to be true. Furthermore, when they sat down at the table, it resulted, from the interpretation of the law, that domestic water can be given under these conditions. DSP approved these measures.”

In addition, she pointed out that the Ministry of the Environment was not informed how serious the situation was even during the crisis.
“Even after the incident, during the crisis, no information vital to the ministry was announced. It was the fourth day after the incident, when the closure of the Brazi plant was announced, which was not communicated even once in the three emergency meetings held over three days in a row. In these meetings, which lasted for hours and took place over three days, there was not a single mention of the risk of the Brazi plant to be closed, which shows that these authorities did not understand even at the last moment the responsibility that was on their shoulders”, said the representative of the Ministry of Environment.
It was not the ministry that was supposed to provide the people with water, but the people in charge at the local level, she added.
Currently there is domestic water in all the localities and DSP is doing analysis to see if it is potable. So far, the tests have confirmed that the water is safe to drink, but the analyzes have not been completed.
