Raspberries the size of plums: thanks to this December feeding from peelings, the branches bend to the ground

When the raspberries begin to bear small berries and the bushes wither, it’s time to remember grandma’s old secret. Regular potato peelings that we used to throw away can turn your raspberries into a real harvesting machine.

Fertilizer technology:

Procurement of raw materials

During the winter, collect peelings by drying them on a radiator or freezing them. By spring you will have valuable fertilizer.

Preparing the infusion

Pour 1 kg of peelings into 5 liters of boiling water, cover with a lid. After 3-4 days, strain.

Fertilizing

Water the raspberries at the rate of 1 liter of infusion per bush. Carry out the first feeding in May, and the second in early July.

Potato peelings: a source of starch, potassium and microelements. It is these substances that raspberries need to form large, sweet berries. The infusion gently acidifies the soil, which is especially important for raspberries.

Can fresh peels be used?

Yes, but they need to be buried to a depth of 10-15 cm so as not to attract rodents.

Is it suitable for other berries?

Yes, the method works for currants, gooseberries and blackberries.

How often can you feed?

2-3 times per season, starting from the moment of flowering.
