The liberal head of the Senate does not believe that the PSD will vote for the motion: “I don't think it is good for Romania that any of the parties are no longer in this coalition”

The president of the Senate, the liberal Mircea Abrudean, said on Monday that he would be “surprised” to see the PSD vote the censure motion initiated by the opposition against a government in which the social democrats have six ministers. He believes that none of the parties in the current coalition should leave the government.
Asked about the scenario in which the PSD would vote for the motion, Abrudean said that the current coalition is a “stable” one.
“I would be surprised because, for now, I know that we are in a stable coalition, despite the results that have advantaged or disadvantaged some at the Capital City Hall (…). I would see no reason why some MPs from this coalition would vote a motion against the coalition,” said the liberal president of the Senate, quoted by News.ro.
He was also asked about the displeasure expressed by the PSD regarding the expected reductions in the administration.
“I remind you that the PSD also has six ministers in this government, so the prime minister cannot make a decision over the heads of those in the government. We will see at that moment,” answered the liberal.
Mircea Abrudean believes that a government without PSD would be “very complicated”.
“If we look at the numbers, it's very complicated and I don't think we want to get there in any way. I don't think it's good for Romania that any of the parties in the coalition are no longer in this coalition. It's a signal of political instability and we don't want that,” the official added.
PSD is also considering an exit from the government
Sources from the PSD leadership say that, after losing the race for the Capital City Hall, the social democrats are considering the possibility of leaving the government because “it is clear that people vote for the messages of the opposition.
After Sorin Grindeanu said on Sunday night that an internal analysis was needed to see why the mobilization did not work in the sectors led by the PSD, on Monday morning, PSD sources revealed that leaving the government is also being considered.
According to HotNews information, the social democrats argue the defeat by the fact that “it is clear that people vote for the opposition, the message from the opposition”.
So far, unlike other polling rounds when a meeting of the party leadership was organized shortly after the elections, Sorin Grindeanu did not convene the leaders for a meeting of the National Political Bureau. This analysis will be done, most likely, at the beginning of next year, after the budget will be adopted, HotNews sources say.
