Bucharest 2025 elections. Anca Alexandrescu: “Today, in fact, Nicușor Dan was defeated/ Not all sovereignists understood that elections are won in the streets and by voting, not in front of computers or television”

The independent candidate for the Capital City Hall, Anca Alexandrescu, declared, on Sunday evening, that the real loser in the Bucharest elections is the president Nicușor Dan, reports Agerpres. At the same time, Alexandrescu lamented the fact that not all sovereignists showed up at the polls in Sunday's election.

“I think that today in Bucharest, after seven months in office, Nicusor Dan was actually defeated. I think that this is the public message that we have to give (…) I am very sorry that not all sovereignists understood that elections are won in the street and by voting, not sitting in front of computers or in front of the television. It is only the beginning. No, I will not take the place of George Simion, I do not have such thoughts. I am going to continue on this path of sovereignty is something that I have declared for many years. I want to tell you one more thing: one of my main missions from now on will be to convince people that the power is with them, that their vote matters”, declared Anca Alexandrescu at the AUR headquarters.

The journalist added that he dedicates the score obtained on Sunday to his father, Horia Alexandrescu.

“I thank those who voted for me, I thank those who did not vote for me, for coming to vote, and with those who saw fit to lynch me in the media, to throw lies into the public space, I convey to them that where the red line was crossed, we will see each other in court. I will defend my honor and that of my father. I also want to thank my family, my children, my mother, to my brother, my husband. And I dedicate this score to my father, who is no longer with us, and I am convinced that he would have been very proud of this battle that I fought. As I said, it is only the beginning and, together with the Romanian citizens, we will win,” she emphasized.

Answering a question, Anca Alexandrescu talked about the manipulation of opinion polls and, at the same time, about online sanctions that only go to a certain area. She added that she obtained this score without having the president or the prime minister behind her.

“I think we need to find a balance, to find that middle way, so that such things don't happen again. (…) I think I have demonstrated that I have not spent any money, I as a person, the alliance has made some minimal expenses. Without having the NGOs behind, without having the president of Romania, the prime minister, we have demonstrated that it is possible. And it is only the beginning”, pointed out Anca Alexandrescu.

After counting 96.5% of the votes cast in Bucharest, the order of candidates is: Ciprian Ciucu – 36.00%,
Anca Alexandrescu – 22.04%, Daniel Băluță – 20.59%, Cătălin Drula – 13.87% and Ana Ciceăla – 5.85%
