“Pope Francis.” Symbolic proposal at Miercurea Ciuc, after the news of the death of the Pontifical Sovereign

The management of Miercurea Ciuc City Hall announced on Monday that it will propose that the road through Pope Francis in Șumuleu Ciuc until the altar from where he officiated the Pontifical Liturgy, in 2019, to bear his name, Agerpres reports.

Also, a black flag was flown on the building of the Miercurea-Ciuc City Hall, after the announcement of Pope Francis.

In a post on the Facebook page, the mayor of Miercurea-Ciuc, Korodi Attila, writes that the whole world is in mourning and recalls the presence of Pope Francis in Șumuleu Ciuc.

“The world was immersed in mourning on the second day of Easter: the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, returned to his Creator, at the age of 88. And we cry, with heavy hearts: we say good from the first sovereign pontiff who stepped to Șumuleu Ciuc. The Virgin Mary from Șumuleu Ciuc remains an eternal memory of the papal visit today. Its road to the altar of Șumuleului) to be renamed 'Road to Pope Francis'.

During his visit to Romania, in 2019, Pope Francis also stopped at the Sanctuary Marian in Șumuleu Ciuc, on this occasion being removed from the Franciscan Church the miracle statue of the Virgin Mary, for the first time after the Second World War.
