President Nicușor Dan holds in a video published on Friday night on the Tiktok platform that he is to be involved in the following period in solving two phenomena that take place in Romania: sexual abuses in universities and cases of domestic violence.
Nicușor Dan says that the problem of sexual abuse in universities is “as serious” as that of domestic violence.
“We have two problems. One: the lack of confidence of the victim towards the authority. And two: the lack of authority of the Romanian state towards the aggressor. That is, the Romanian state does not require respect for the aggressor, because I know that in many cases nothing has happened,” explains Nicușor Dan.
@nicusordanro One of the most serious problems we face in Romania, along with domestic violence! There are two topics in which I will be very involved in the coming period. #Nicusordan #violenta #femei #abus #fyp ♬ original sound – Nicușor Dan
The president says that “these are the things I want to correct and in which I want to get involved.”
In the description of the video published on Tiktok, Nicușor Dan says that the problem of sexual abuse in universities and that of domestic violence are two topics in which “much” will be involved in the period ”
“Any form of abuse must be sanctioned, especially since it is on some teenagers, from the power position, as it is in the education system,” said Nicușor Dan on Tuesday. Regarding the accusations against Professor Pieleanu, he said that “it must be a thorough research of the university”.
What Nicușor Dan answered when asked what is the responsibility of the school, not justice, in the case of Pieleanu. “I saw, of course, the material”
The “case” SNSPA: Two teachers accused of sexual abuse during a year
Nicușor Dan's positions on this topic come in the context in which the SNOOOop's investigation site published an investigation on Tuesday in which Professor Marius Pieleanu is accused of sexual abuse by former students or women who have entered his office. The journalists discussed for documenting the material with over 40 women who talked about Pieleanu's behavior.
A year ago, in July 2024, Snoop published a similar investigation about another teacher from SNSPA, Alfred Bulai. Then, Snoop published testimonies of students who accused the teacher of asking them to undress in front of him, in private spaces, where he claimed to offer “academic feedback.” According to Snoop sources, Bulai would have invited students and terraces, where he asked them intimate questions about sex life and gave them speeches about “how to behave.”
“SNSPA (…) has zero tolerance to any form of abuse, harassment or behavior that violates the dignity of the members of the academic community,” the institution announced on Wednesday after the publication of new testimonies about Professor Pieleanu. Initially, at the SNSPA level, the decision had been made that the institution had no public reaction, according to HotNews sources.
The same expression was used a year ago, when the same investigation site revealed the Alfred Bulai case.
SNSPA talks about “zero tolerance” compared to any form of harassment, after disclosures in the case of Pieleanu. The same expression, used and a year ago in the case of Bulai / EC has happened since then
30 cases of Femicide from the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of the year, in Romania at least 30 women have been killed, either by their partners from that time, or by former partners. On June 18, over 1,000 people participated in a protest in front of the government to ask the authorities to prevent gender violence, following the crime in Lipănești commune, Prahova, where a 22 -year -old was killed by the former partner, on the street, in front of children.
The most recent attempt at Femicid took place on Friday. A woman arrived at the hospital in serious condition after being stabbed in the street, in Buftea, by the former partner. The day before, she had filed a complaint with the police because the man hit her and threatened her, and the police issued a provisional protection order.
On June 3, several thousand people gathered in Victoriei Square to manifest violence against women, after the Cosmopolis crime, and to ask the Government additional measures to protect women. “We are tired of empty words”, “All over the police, anywhere justice”, “indifference nourishes violence” and “hundreds of women are dead, this is not right”-were some of the messages shouted by the protesters before the Government. The appeal to Prostest came after the case of Theodora, the 23 -year -old shot dead in the Cosmopolis complex in Ilfov.
And then Nicușor Dan was pronounced about this phenomenon, saying that femicide is “a serious problem” in Romania and that the Romanian state “does not give an impression of strength, firmness”.
