Ovidiu Mihăilă, 52 years old, the selector of the Romanian women's national handball team, analyzed victory over Japan, 31-27 in the second match of the World Championship preliminary groups.
It was more difficult than the paper calculations suggested, but Romania also got past Japan, 31-27. At no point in the game was the difference greater than 4 goals.
Following the victory that confirms Romania's advancement in the main group, Ovidiu Mihăilă was delighted. The coach says that he found the solution late to stop the momentum of the Nippons, towards the end of the game, when the “tricolors” came off for good.
Ovidiu Mihăilă, before Romania – Denmark: “Why don't we try to make another surprise at this tournament?”
“It's not easy to play against Japan, they have a good rhythm. I tried to find a solution to stop them, to have the same level in defense. Towards the end of the game I found a solution and I'm very happy for this win. But first of all, congratulations to the girls! I am very happy to have achieved this victory”, said the coach.
The last match in the group will take place on Monday evening, at 21:30, in the company of Denmark. Mihăilă hopes that his students will produce a new surprise in a final tournament in which we already had a surprise score, the Faroe Islands defeating Spain 27-25.
“The girls will not celebrate tonight, they will focus on the next game. All games are important. We see what happened in these first games at the World Cup.
The Faroe Islands won with Spain, a big surprise. Why don't we try to make another surprise in the next game? It is very important that each of the girls has confidence in the next game and we will see [ce se va întâmpla]”, concluded the coach of Romania.
