The ship loaded with gas burning near the port of Ismail in Ukraine, the fire that caused the Tulcan towns of Plauru and Ceatalchioi to be evacuated, is an LPG tanker sailing under the flag of Turkey, announced the General Directorate for Maritime Affairs of the Turkish government.
The Turkish-flagged vessel, ORINDA, was hit by a drone last night at around 02.00 am in Ismail port in Ucaina and caught fire, the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Turkish government announced on the X account.
“The ship was carrying 16 members of the Turkish crew. The crew evacuated the ship safely. There were no injuries. Firefighters are responding to the fire,” said the quoted source.

According to the data provided by marinetraffic.com, the ship has a length of almost 125 meters and a width of almost 20 meters. The ship has been docked in Ismail port since November 12.
The Tulcea authorities decided on Monday to evacuate the towns of Plauru and Ceatalchioi in Tulcea county, after the ship full of LPG was hit by a Russian drone and caught fire near Ismail port, on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube. According to the head of DSU, Raed Arafat, 300 people have been evacuated, and there remains a high risk of explosion in the area.
The ship is loaded with about 4,400 tons of gas, and the explosion can have an impact of 4.5-5 km, the head of the DSU warned.
