The municipality wants to exercise its right of pre-emption and open negotiations with the Royal House for the purchase of the building. If local elected officials approve the move, there will be a period of complex discussions and planning for the future of this historically valuable property. The decision will influence Sinaia's identity and how the city's heritage will be managed for generations to come, notes Sinaia Group.

The Royal Family notified the authorities at the end of October 2025 of their intention to sell the building, which has important architectural and symbolic value. The asking price is 3.7 million euros. The legal procedure regarding the right of pre-emption was triggered automatically, and the Minister of Culture has already announced that he will not exercise it, the responsibility falling to the Prahova County Council and Sinaia City Hall.

In the next period, the local authorities must decide whether to waive this right or whether they will take the necessary steps for the hotel to remain in the public heritage.

The building was originally built as the “new stables” of the Royal Peleș Estate and inaugurated in 1912. It was used as a residence for the employed staff of the Royal Family, having 40 rooms for servants and quarters for 24 horses. Later, the “Ant” was transformed into a hotel.
