“Social networks and anonymous digital resources are spreading another invention of the Russian special services – an alleged account […] Budanova on the X platform was created on the territory of the Russian Federation. To confirm this thesis, a screenshot of an account specially created for this with the corresponding place of registration is used,” the GUR writes.
Ukrainian intelligence emphasized that “this is completely false information, which has all the signs of an information operation aimed at discrediting the leadership of the Main Intelligence Directorate.”
The GUR noted that Budanov’s real account in X is located at the link.
“We urge you to maintain information hygiene, not to fall for fakes and to trust information only from official resources and from speakers of the Main Intelligence Directorate,” the post noted.
In the screenshot shown in the GUR, the user “Kirill Budanov” has the date of registration (November 2022), country (USA), and last change of username (January 2023).
