Among those who came to the ceremony with badges were American singer Billie Eilish, Canadian singer Justin Bieber and his wife, American model Hailey Bieber and many other celebrities.
As the BBC notes, during public appearances, the artists also criticized the actions of the administration of US President Donald Trump in enforcing immigration laws.
British singer and Grammy 2026 winner in the Best New Artist category, Olivia Dean, received the award and publicly spoke out in support of immigrants. In particular, she recalled that she is the granddaughter of immigrants and called for their support.
American singer Billie Eilish, who also won the 2026 Grammy Awards, called for “continuing to fight, speak out and protest” against the actions of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The singer added that the protesters' voices “really matter.”
Another Grammy winner, Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, made the same message. The BBC called his speech “the ceremony's most overtly political moment.”
The Hollywood Reporter added that a joke by South African comedian and actor Trevor Noah, who hosted the 2026 Grammy Awards, about Trump angered the American president.
Noah joked in one of his liners that every artist dreams of a Grammy just like “Trump dreams of Greenland.” He also added that after the death of American financier Jeffrey Epstein, “Trump needs a new island to hang out with former US President Bill Clinton.”
