The power went out in a number of cities in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region. Locals write about the attack on the thermal power plant


The public wrote that there was a loss of power in Ilovaisk, Makeevka and some areas of Donetsk. Later, the channel clarified that the Zuevskaya thermal power plant in the city of Zugres near Zuevka (40 km east of Donetsk) allegedly came under attack.




The monitoring project Exilenova+ reported that the transformer of the second boiler was hit. According to the channel, it is disabled.



Supernova+ writes about an attack on the main turbine hall of the Zuevskaya Thermal Power Plant, where the steam turbines and generators of the power plant are located.



Context

The Russian Federation occupied part of the Donetsk region, in particular with the regional center, in 2014. In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and continued its offensive in the Donbass.

Since the beginning of 2024, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russia’s oil and energy infrastructure. The head of Ukrainian state Vladimir Zelensky noted that Ukraine is forced to answerdelivering strikes in response to Russian air attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.
