Tax evasion, explained by Prime Minister Bolojan. “It cannot be done anywhere except with a certain umbrella of protection from the state institutions”

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan claims that the state institutions must admit that tax evasion on a large scale is possible, regardless of the country, only if there is “an umbrella for the protection of tax evaders”.

“It is obvious that if in these years we had an important evasion, and this can be seen from the difference between what should have been collected and how much was collected, we can simply discuss the method of calculation, the expenses from one household or another, but however we take it, we certainly have a very large difference that we do not collect. And we must recognize that tax evasion in a big way cannot be done anywhere except with a certain umbrella of protection from the state's institutions. There is no such thing as an umbrella. Those who provide protection in one way or another have not done their duty due to incompetence, there is not only one reason.”said Ilie Bolojan, on Friday, News writes.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, in order for the money to be collected in the budget, good, clear laws are needed, “which no longer allows legal evasion, over-optimization” and people and mechanisms are needed to put these laws into practice, “firmly”.
Regarding the legislation, the prime minister said that he hopes that next week the tax package – which was partially suspended by a decision of the Constitutional Court to cancel an article – will be resumed, then through the Parliament as quickly as possible to become operational.
Regarding human resources, Ilie Bolojan argued that ANAF must end not only the digitization process that will eliminate it “subjectivism, incompetence or corruption” when controls are carried out, but also needs employees and leaders to correctly put the law into practice.
“It is very important that ANAF does its a reform inside, to put pressure on people, to make mobility by function. I don't believe in people who stay in office for 10 years, things are going wrong and must be maintained for stability, in the future, there. So we need a package of measures that I hope the Ministry of Finance and ANAF, who have all the competence to do this and all the freedom and of course the responsibility, must correct things in the coming months“, he added.
