Specialists of the Forest Fire Center of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received thermal imagers, radio stations, fire tanks, modular structures and tents. A large batch of equipment and special equipment was purchased with the support of the federal budget.
The center said that 20 thermal imagers will be used to detect hidden combustion sources. This will help when extinguishing hard-to-reach forest fires, when the fire can spread under the ground or stones. In addition, thermal imagers help identify residual heat spots after extinguishing.
The center also received thirty new 1,000-liter fire tanks, with another 14 on the way. The containers will be transported to remote fire sites on the external sling of Mi-8 helicopters. In the absence of water sources, this is the only way to provide firefighters with drinking water and refill backpack forest fire extinguishers.
“We are actively introducing modern technologies into our work – drones, thermal imagers. While the former make it possible to identify smoke points from the air, the latter ensure more efficient operation at active edges. Thanks to the use of these funds, we will be able to increase the efficiency of fire suppression, which is one of the objectives of the national project “Ecological Well-Being,” said Vitaly Prostakishin, director of the regional Forest Fire Center.
In addition, forest firefighters received 125 domestically produced radio stations to ensure uninterrupted communication in areas where there is no mobile signal, as well as 45 modular structures for storing airborne fire equipment and 43 all-season tents.
The plans are to purchase 70 satellite phones, 20 quadcopters and four units of special equipment, including crew vehicles, a snow and swamp-going vehicle and a mini-excavator.
