Relatives of Vladimir Putin's doctor among the Russian elite. Behind the scenes of promotions

Throughout his life, Nikolai Shchellov worked as a surgeon in the Bryansk city hospital and rose to the position of head there, which was apparently the peak of his career. After Alexei began to constantly accompany Putin on his trips (no later than 2014), Shchhelov Sr. was nevertheless appointed deputy governor of the Bryansk region.
Who became a deputy of the Duma?
What role did Nikolai Shchellov play in the hospital?
What companies was founded by the Szczegłow family?
How much money did Tatiana Szczegłowa's companies receive from the state?
Local media called Shcheglov the “wedding general” and wrote about his conflict with Governor Alexander Bogomaz, who was unable to overcome the influence of “Moscow protectors” behind Shcheglov, as reported in the publications.
In 2021, Shchhelov Sr. became a deputy of the Duma from the United Russia party. The parliamentarian's brother, 61-year-old Alexei Shcheglov, worked at the Ministry of Agriculture in the Bryansk region. In 2019, Szczegłow was dismissed from his position in connection with a scandal related to an official's lobbying for the dairy business of his wife and son. The dismissal did not prevent Shchelgov from getting a promotion – he became the director of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center.
Tatiana Szczegłowa, the 60-year-old wife of the MP's brother, during the years of her husband's work in the ministry, together with her relatives, organized several companies in the region producing and selling milk through milk machines, i.e. automatic milk sales points. Over the last five years, its companies have received approximately 200 million rubles (PLN 9 million) in state aid.
38-year-old Nikolai Shcheglov, son of Tatiana and Alexei Shkhlov, became the founder of one of the family companies that received real estate as part of state aid.
43-year-old Alexei Shcheglov is an otolaryngologist and surgeon working at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow. This medical facility is responsible for the health of the most important people – there are VIP rooms, special communications and security.
From at least 2014 to 2020, Shcheklov constantly accompanied Putin on foreign business trips. Shchellov turned out to be the doctor who most often accompanied Putin on his trips. He followed Putin so closely that during his visit to the Sochi Paralympic Games in 2014, he appeared in photos with the head of state (see photo above).
