Krasnoyarsk schoolchildren are taught kindness and safety with the help of dogs

12 November 12:48

Dog trainers and volunteers conduct lessons on kindness and safety in schools in Krasnoyarsk, the press service of the city administration reported.

All lesson materials were developed by professionals – animal psychologists and dog handlers. In particular, experts tell students about the rules of conduct when meeting animals. In addition, the organizers have developed special reminders and visual aids that outline simple actions when meeting a dog.

At the same time, the rules of behavior apply not only to stray dogs, but also to pets. For example, it is not recommended to stroke someone else's dog, even with the owner's permission. First, she should sniff your hand, and it is better to stroke it from the side or in the neck area. This is just one of the rules.

“Many children, and adults too, often think that if a dog is with its owner, it means it is friendly, you can approach it, touch it, stroke it, especially if the owner is an acquaintance or relative. But animals have different characters and behavior. Therefore, some recommendations on the rules of behavior with other people’s pets are a revelation for many,” noted animal inspector Kristina Labutina.

According to experts, today's schoolchildren have much less experience with dogs than their parents and grandparents. Therefore, animal psychologists and dog handlers talk about various topics in their lessons: about the rules of catching, the work of city services, shelters, the humane treatment of animals, about professions related to dogs, about living next to animals. In addition, dogs are brought to lessons. Schoolchildren can interact with animals and ask specialists any questions.

Activists are ready to conduct lessons in any school in any class. School directors, teachers or parents who want to organize such lessons or get advice for conducting classroom hours or independent conversations with children can write to the organizers by email: [email protected].
