The government announces new investments in health infrastructure. Nine hospitals and regional centers, modernized with European funds

Nine hospitals and regional centers in Romania will be modernized and expanded through European funds, as part of the 2021-2027 Health Program, the Government announced on Tuesday.

The Monitoring Committee of the Health Program, together with representatives of the European Commission, approved the financing of nine major projects for the Romanian health system, which will be supported by European funds for the period 2021-2027.

The targeted projects are considered essential for increasing the quality of the medical act, modernizing the hospital infrastructure and improving patient safety.

According to the Executive, the following investments will be financed:

  • Alba Iulia County Emergency Hospital – new body for oncology and interventional cardiology;
  • Pitesti Polytrauma Center;
  • Pitesti Emergency County Hospital – radiotherapy laboratory;
  • Oradea Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases and Pneumophthisiology;
  • The Emergency Hospital of the MAI “Prof. Dr. Dimitrie Gerota” Bucharest – new headquarters;
  • Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital – new body for oncology and neurology;
  • Timișoara Regional Institute of Oncology;
  • Hospital no. 2 Vaslui – new building body;
  • Bacău County Emergency Hospital – new building.

According to the Government, the signing of the financing contracts for these investments will follow, which will continue the initial plans from the PNRR and will contribute to the modernization of the health network in Romania.
