In a letter made available to PAP, the Ukrainian citizen wrote, among other things: “I am being held under armed surveillance and in maximum and permanent isolation.” He also emphasized: “I am on hunger strike because the Italians ignore my requests and violate my rights as a prisoner of war and as a human being.”

Earlier, the media reported that, according to German investigators, the 49-year-old not only participated in the attack on the gas pipeline, but was also its coordinator. Attorney Canestrini noted that the prolonged detention of the former Ukrainian soldier raises questions about respect for international humanitarian law.

Serhiy K. was detained in August this year near Rimini, where he was on vacation with his family.
