The number of tourist trips by Russians to China in July-September of this year reached 383 thousand – the maximum in thirteen years, according to RIA Novosti analysis of data from the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System (EMISS).
Thus, Russian tourists made 383 thousand trips to China in the third quarter, which is 13% more than the level of the second quarter and almost a quarter more than the same period last year.
So many Russians have not gone on tourist trips around the Celestial Empire for 13 years – the last time there were more in the third quarter of 2012 (407.6 thousand people). One of the reasons for this increase in interest may be China’s introduction of a trial visa-free regime for Russians from September 15, 2025.
