Tyszka's shocking confession

In the Sunday program on Polsat News, Stanisław Tyszka, currently an MEP of Confederation and previously an MP of Kukiz'15 he said that, together with Paweł Kukiz, he took part, during the rule of the United Right, in a meeting organized by Janusz Kowalski with the then Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro (Kowalski and Ziobro formed Sovereign Poland at that time, today they are PiS MPs).

– Mr. Kowalski suggested to Minister Ziobro that we use the Justice Fund for our own purposes, which will help us politically. We, of course, rejected it, said Tyszka. He added that Ziobro and Sovereign Poland created “a machine for spending public money for party purposes and conducting their own election campaigns.”

There will be a notification to the prosecutor's office

“I am reporting on this matter that Janusz Kowalski and other PiS politicians present at this conversation may have committed a crime,” Tomczyk announced on Sunday.

In connection with the Justice Fund case, the National Prosecutor's Office wants to bring 26 charges against Zbigniew Ziobro; on Friday, the Sejm lifted the immunity of the former Minister of Justice in relation to all these allegations. The Sejm also consented to the detention and possible temporary arrest of the former head of the Ministry of Justice. The execution of the decision on detention was entrusted to officers of the Internal Security Agency. PiS politics is not in the country, it is in Budapest.

According to the prosecutor's office, Ziobro allegedly committed 26 crimes, including: issue illegal orders regarding grants from the Justice Fund and interfere in competitions for their award. According to the prosecutor's office, members of the criminal group led by Ziobro awarded grants to entities that did not meet formal requirements, and the funds transferred were often spent contrary to the fund's objectives.

The prosecutor's office also names Ziobro as the person who decided to illegally transfer PLN 25 million from the Justice Fund to the Central Anticorruption Bureau for the purchase of Pegasus software and PLN 14 million for the renovation of the National Prosecutor's Office, despite the lack of legal basis.

In addition, the prosecutor's office wants to accuse the PiS politician of hiding documents that could be important for criminal proceedings – including those relating to people from his political environment – which could have served to hinder investigations and protect others from criminal liability.

The Victims' Assistance and Post-penitentiary Assistance Fund (Justice Fund) is a special purpose fund, which means that its funds must be spent exclusively for the purposes of the fund. This fund was established in 1997 to help victims and witnesses of crimes and people who have served prison terms and are returning to an honest life in society (this is post-penitentiary assistance). Since 2017, this fund has received an additional goal of counteracting crime. (PAP)
