Cluj University achieved an important victory in the opening of the 16th stage of the Superliga, 3-1 at Cluj Arena against Metaloglobus. Transylvania return to the fight for the play-off, while Bucharest become the “red lantern” of the ranking. The goals were scored by Dan Nistor (10', 22') and Ovidiu Bic (37') for “U”, respectively Ely Fernandes (47') for the guests.
The midfielder Ovidiu Bic (31 years old), the author of a spectacular goal from over 30 meters, spoke at the end of the match about his success and about the difficult period he went through in recent months.
Ovidiu Bic spoke about the superb success: “I'm glad it worked out for me today”
“I'm very happy for the win, because I hadn't won at home for 6 months. I'm happy that I had a very good first half, I had chances, I scored three goals and I'm also happy for my beautiful goal. I'm glad it worked out for me today,” said Bic.
The footballer admits that the success came after a period full of tension:
“It was a relief, because I had built up a lot of frustration lately after more modest developments. There are periods and periods in our career, I hope to have much better developments from now on,” the University midfielder continued.
Bic also emphasized the importance of stability around the team, especially after the fluctuating results at the start of the season.
“We have to improve our game to collect points, to play better, and that's what we try every game. I'm glad there's stability, I'm happy to score three goals and to win at home.”
“U” wins at home after 6 months, “Metalo” is still “red lantern”
Following this victory, Cluj University ticks off its first success at home after six months and climbs up the rankings, continuing the fight for a play-off spot, while Metaloglobus remains the “red lantern” of the Superliga.
