The famous Wesley Sneijder, 41, former Ajax midfielder, real madrid, Inter and Galatasaray, came to Bucharest as a La Liga ambassador. On this occasion, he was asked about 4 of the Romanians he teamed up with throughout his career.
In the run-up to El Clasico, Spanish league sponsor Superbet organized a media event attended by Wesley Sneijder, former Dutch international with 66 caps for Real Madrid.
During the days spent in Bucharest, Sneijder was shown images of 4 of the Romanians who were his colleagues throughout his career. He said what he remembers about each of the 4.
Wesley Sneijder remembered Alibec, Ogăraru and Chivu: “He was always talking to his wife: 'What are you doing, love?'”
The first picture, a group picture, also included Denis Alibecfrom the years when the current striker from FCSB was registered at Inter.
“And he's Romanian, right? Ali… Alibec? Alibec, yes! He was a good boy,” recalls the Dutchman in the clip published by Superbet.
The second photo is from Ajax, with George Hound alongside Sneijder and Jaap Stam. “We called him 'The Professor'. He knows everything! If you need anything, call George and he'll know,” Wesley said.
It followed Cristi Chivucolleague of Sneijder at Inter. Here, the Dutchman uttered in Romanian the sentence that he remembers the Inter coach always saying in dialogue with his wife:
“In the training base, we always shared the room. A bed here, a bed there (no – shows left-right), the TV up. He didn't care what was on TV. He was always with his laptop and talking to his girlfriend: “What are you doing, love?”“.
Last, Bogdan Lobontalso at Ajax.
“He didn't give a damn, man! It was like: “My c** hurts”. He was the second goalkeeper for a long time, but he didn't complain, he lived his life”.
About Chivu, Sneijder also stated that he sees him being, at some point, Romania's national team:
One day, I'm sure he will be the coach of the national team. He didn't try to interrupt things or talk to the coaches a lot, he kept it to himself, but when I sat in the room with him and talked about football he was very intelligent.
He came to Ajax and immediately became captain because of his personality. He led the team from the bottom line, we needed such players at Ajax. And how he behaved outside the train too…a true gentleman.
