“We don't have much to lose”

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, 28, has admitted he will need “a bit of luck” to overtake Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the 2025 world title race.

Norris dominated the Mexico City Grand Prix and took the championship lead after the last race for the first time in 6 months with a 1 point lead over Piastri. Max is 36 points behind the new leader.

Max Verstappen: “At worst I will be third”

“There were a few stages where the gap narrowed, but now there are 4 races to go and it's quite a big gap. I have to get a lot more points every weekend, which is not so easy

If it had been in 2023, with everything we had then, and you had told me that I was 36 points behind and there were four stages to go, I would have said: «Yes, no problem, it will be easy». But this season is different and we have to optimize everything and have perfect weekends.

We may need a bit of luck to close more of the gap, but we'll do our best. Will it be enough at the end of the year? I don't know, but we don't have much to lose. In the worst case I will be third, and in the best case I will win the title”, said Max Verstappen, according to sportal.bg.

Verstappen made it clear that he felt no pressure in the final part of the season, where he certainly did not have the fastest car.

For me there is no pressure. Even if I don't win the title, I will know that I had a very good season. I think it will be very difficult, we have to be realistic given the chances we have had this season.

But I think it's remarkable that we're still talking about the possibility of becoming champions and that's because of the changes in the team, our team never gives up, that's an impressive strength of our team.”
