During this season, several players from Rapid extended their contracts, among them Alexandru Dobre, Claudiu Petrila, Cristi Manea, Luka Gojkovic (on loan at UTA), and now it's the turn of Andrei Borza (20 years old).
Salary and Termination Clause
Even if the left defender, quoted at 2.5 million euros on transfermarkt.ro, still has a contract until the summer of 2027, the people of Giulești wanted to avoid him entering the last year of the agreement. And now the president Victor Angelescu is negotiating the extension, with at least one more year, with the impresario Giovanni Becali.
The stake is also a salary one, as happened with the others, given that Borza has a monthly contract of 12,500 euros, below that of some of the most important players in the Rapid locker room. And in the extension, he would like a consistent increase, which would bring him closer to the top of the best paid.
GSP.ro sources claim that, after signing new agreements, Manea and Dobre reached 20,000 euros, and Petrila 15,000 euros. Olimpiu Moruțan remains the best-paid of the lot, who receives 25,000 euros from Rapid, plus a bonus from Aris Salonic, at least until the summer.
In the case of Borza, the topic related to the termination clause will most likely appear in the negotiations. Currently it is 3.5 million euros, but it is not excluded that it will increase in the conditions of a substantial salary increase.
Most likely, Borza would be sold abroad this summer. And according to manager Giovanni Becali, in a statement for fanatik.ro, “Gică Hagi has, as far as I know, 10% of a future transfer”.
Goalkeeper in the last two stages
Andrei Borza has only made 18 appearances for Rapid this Superliga season, with two goals and two assists. He was absent from the team for a long time, September-December 2025, following a stupid injury suffered in the national team.
Then, in a 5-on-2 drill, the player suffered a metatarsal fracture after being stepped on by a team physio. The recovery took much longer than originally anticipated, so Borza missed 10 rounds.
Borza scored both goals this season in the last two stages, in the defeat with Farul (1-3) and in the victory with Dinamo (2-1).
