Petro Fiala's government resigned. Andrej Babisz will become the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic again

Resigning is a formal step provided for in the constitution that allows for the formation of a new government after the elections. The resignation takes place after the end of the inaugural session of the new Chamber of Deputies. At the end of last week, the president entrusted Babisz with the mission of forming a government.
Babisz, whose populist ANO movement won the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in early October, is forming a new cabinet with the radical right-wing, xenophobic and anti-EU movement Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) and the equally skeptical about the EU Zmotoryzowani (Motoristie) group.

According to Pavel, the cabinet that was finishing its mission took over the government during a difficult period. He recalled the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which, among other things, has led to an unprecedented migration and energy crisis. The president also assessed the clear and bold foreign and security policy very positively. He pointed out that the outgoing cabinet had shortcomings in education and errors in the digitization of construction procedures.
Fiala's government was appointed on December 17, 2021. After the elections, the leader of the right-wing Civic Democratic Party (ODS) managed to quickly create a coalition of five parties that were ready to take power after Babisz's minority coalition government. In 2021, his movement won the elections, but he had no one to form a cabinet with.
Andrej Babisz returns to power in the Czech Republic
Now, after the elections in October this year. the situation has changed and Babisz is creating a new office. He has already signed a coalition agreement with his partners. Next Wednesday, Babisz will meet with the president, during which the draft program of the future government will be presented, perhaps its composition, but also the way in which the future prime minister intends to avoid accusations of conflict of interest, expected by the head of state.
The former and probably future prime minister is the sole owner of one of the largest holdings in the Czech Republic operating in the food and chemical industries. According to Czech and European law, Babisz, as prime minister, cannot hold Agrofert shares. The solution is not to transfer them to blind trust funds. The president determines the appointment of the oligarch as prime minister on Babisz's resolution of the conflict of interest problem.
