Eugen Neagoe (58 years old), the coach from Petrolul Ploiești, drew the conclusions, after his team drew with FC Botoșaniscore 0-0, in round number 15 of the Superliga, the last of the championship round.
Eugen Neagoe considers it a fair result, but says that his team could have received a penalty in the first half, at a stage when Chică Roșă was hit by an opponent. He also recalled the phase when Ricardinho scored at the end, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Eugen Neagoe, after Petrolul – Botoșani: “A fair result”
“It was a tough game, as I expected. We knew we were facing a good, aggressive team that plays hard, we tried to do it too, I think we succeeded. We had some chances, unfortunately we didn't score.
I did it in the second half, but it was cancelled, it was something millimetric. I think it was a fair result. They also had dangerous phases, so did we. In the first half, we had Chică Roşa's header, after which he was hit in the head by the opponent. I think it should have been checked. Both players complained of a headache.
We also had Ricardinho's phase, their player leaves the back foot. I think they were almost identical phases. In the second half we had two very good phases to score. I would have liked to win, we really need the points, but that's the situation.
I talked to the boys, I congratulated them, they deserve congratulations. The glass is about half full, not full. I'm happy with their attitude, I have nothing to complain about, just that I didn't score. I think we looked like a solid, good team, I don't think we showed that many vulnerabilities. All in all, it was a fair result”, said Eugen Neagoe, at Prima Sport.
We had to watch out for their speed players. We did our job well, apart from the penalty I don't think they had a big chance. It's a very good thing that we didn't score, we're starting to score and it's very important. We are doing our job as well as we can, we are starting to improve week by week and that is good.
Kudos to Krell for fixing his mistake, although I don't think it's a very big mistake. My opinion is that the striker looked for contact and extended the ball out. Krell studies the opponent a lot, I know him, I know that there have been many penalties in the past.
We are bad, we have work to do, we are down there, we only have 14 points. We have to continue not to concede goals. We're down, I don't think we belong there. I think we have a slightly older team than where we are.
