BGK in 2024, record loans for cities and energy development in Poland


BGK revenues amounted to PLN 5.3 billion. The balance sheet and non-balanced loan and take-time involvement was the highest in history, compared to 2023, increased by 11.3 percent. The income rate indicator was 18.2 percent. and the total capital coefficient – 30.6 percent
In 2024, the bank concluded contracts with ministries for all KPO instruments entrusted to it – 5 loan and 3 subsidies. BGK is responsible for the distribution of over PLN 140 billion, i.e. for half of all funds from Polish KPO – the bank emphasized.
“Actions taken in 2024 and our financial results are proof of the professionalism of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and responsible management of public funds. (…) Profit is not for BGK in itself. In the first place we put strengthening the Polish economy – said BGK president Mirosław Czekaj, quoted in the bank's announcement.
He added that in the first quarter of 2025, BGK contracted PLN 26 billion from KPO.
“This is almost twice as much as we report in 2024. This result is possible thanks to the solid foundations that we put under the service of entrusted programs in previous months” – emphasized Czekaj.
The bank announced that by the end of 2024 the bank signed 430 loan agreements supporting the green transformation of cities for a total amount of nearly PLN 1.3 billion. He also concluded a record agreement for a loan for PLN 11 billion from the Energy Support Fund for the development of the power network, as well as the first contract for financing wind farms from KPO.
BGK also granted local governments and their financing companies from their own account for PLN 7.4 billion, in 2023 the support granted to the JST sector amounted to PLN 6.6 billion. The bank also made the largest bond issue on the American market so far, obtaining a total of $ 3.5 billion. for the Covid-19 Counteracting Fund and the National Road Fund, which is an operator.

Costa Rica and Salvador joined the foreign markets where BGK finances Polish exporters. In December, BGK also opened a representative office in Kiev, whose tasks include supporting the modernization and reconstruction of the local economy from the EC, as well as assistance to Polish entrepreneurs in conducting investments in Ukraine.
BGK is a development bank that belongs entirely to the State Treasury, supporting the sustainable socio-economic development of the country. The bank initiates and develops cooperation between business, public sector and financial institutions. At the end of 2024, BKG assets amounted to almost PLN 270 billion, and equity of almost PLN 41 billion.
