Lasconi insinuates that Nicușor Dan knew the day before the elections were to be canceled: “Ask him if he had to enter the presidential campaign”

Elena Lasconi suggested on Thursday evening, at Antena 3 CNN, that it is possible that Nicușor Dan had known the day before the presidential elections held on November 24 were to be canceled. According to the USR leader, the day before the decision regarding the annulment of the first poll, taken by the Constitutional Court (CCR) on December 6, to the current general mayor of the Capital I proposed to enter the race for the supreme function in the state.

Laconi was asked, in a show at Antena 3, “Who is part of the system that manipulates Nicușor Dan?”.

“I can't give you some names,” she said.

“Ask him if before a day of the annulment of the elections he proposed to enter the campaign for now. From the system area, I say. It was known that the elections will be canceled,” Lasconi continued.

She did not specify who the people behind this proposal are.

In fact, the USR leader was harshly criticized on Thursday night Nicușor Dan, who says he has “controversial people” around him and would be willing to bring “people of the past” in a possible presidential team.

“A man who lies with lightness, who has controversial people around him, even a pro-Russian, who says he would take people to Cotroceni … We have to ask ourselves,” she said.

Lasconi appealed to the party colleagues to cease the attacks and focus on the USR reconstruction: “Let's get out of our homes and come up with a bit of wisdom and love. If some of you want to campaign for a USR candidate. If not, have a happy Easter.”

Against the background of the court's decision that confirmed the quality of USR president, Lasconi said that he no longer needs the support of “some who betray in second two” and questioned the party's political future in the current conditions: “Who would ever run for USR after this scandal?”.

USR can't do campaign for Nicușor Dan

The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected, on Thursday, the appeal made by the USR against the decision by which the Central Electoral Bureau has established that the party cannot campaign for Nicușor Dan. Thus, the formation will not be able to use money to support the independent candidate in the presidential race.

Elena Lasconi, to whom USR announced last week that she withdraws her support for supporting Nicușor Dan in the presidential race, asked the court to find that only the USR Congress has the authority to change or revoke a party president and that the political and legal decisions of the USR can only be assumed by the president. The court gave it justice, says the candidate's communication team.

At the same time, Lasconi asked the court to find the nullity of the steps made by the USR National Bureau on behalf of the party, including the appeal against the BEC decision.

Even though the USR withdrew the support of Elena Lasconi and supports the mayor of the Capital in the presidential race, on the ballot Elena Lasconi is the one who will be the USR candidate as they have already been printed, and the deadline for withdrawal was 19 March.
