Dominic Fritz sent a call for mobilization in the USR, on Sunday, at the event to launch Cătălin Drula's candidacy for the Capital City Hall, alluding to the recent statement of President Nicușor Dan regarding his intention to marry his partner, Mirabela Grădinaru.
“I want to ask you, dear friends, dear colleagues, in the coming weeks, whatever you have… Okay, is anyone getting married besides Mr. President? So, if you don't have a wedding planned, you have no reason not to campaign for Bucharest, for Cătălin Drula in the next five weeks”, said the president of USR, in the speech delivered in front of Nicușor Dan, Cătălin Drula and the other guests at the event on Sunday.
In an interview for Cotidianul, Nicușor Dan was asked what would happen sooner – a possible suspension from office or marriage. The president replied that he is trying to comply with all the obligations he has in his position “precisely not to have any kind of discussion”, according to Spotmedia.ro.
Regarding marriage, he said that “of course it will happen. And it will happen 100%”, but that this step “must be taken in a period of silence and reflection in your life”.
“A commitment to Cătălin Drula and Nicușor Dan
During the event on Sunday, Dominic Fritz also said that “this meeting is a commitment” that USR makes “to Cătălin Drula, to the former general mayor of Bucharest and the current president, Nicușor Dan, and to every Bucharest resident that in the next five weeks we will do everything that belongs to us, everything that belongs to each of us, to win these elections for Bucharest”.
“Whoever attacked Nicușor Dan, who sabotaged Nicușor Dan, who blocked Nicușor Dan cannot claim to be his successor now! And, similarly, who stood next to alde Ciucă, next to alde Ciolacu, next to alde Crin Antonescu, who stood next to them in the election campaigns cannot now claim to be the successor of Nicușor Dan!”, said Dominic Fritz, president of USR and mayor of the municipality Timisoara.
