We expect that Prime Minister Tusk will decide to immediately suspend his membership rights or expel KO MEP Dariusz Joński from the party, PiS MEP Piotr Muller said at a press conference on Friday. PiS's motion was formulated after media reports that Joński was supported by a “convicted criminal.”

On Thursday, the Goniec portal reported that Andrzej R., sentenced in 2022 to 6 years in prison for fraud involving actions aimed at obtaining financial gain, who was finally detained in 2025, allegedly maintained close relations with KO MEP Dariusz Joński for years.

According to Goniec, Andrzej R. was supposed to support Joński in creating the Polish Initiative, of which the MEP was vice-chairman. “According to the report (Andrzej R. in an interview with Goniec – PAP), he financed Joński's purchase of a mobile phone, a coffee machine, a suit, a glasses frame. As well as trips, foreign trips, and the use of a car,” we read.

On the same day, Joński announced on the X platform that “due to the slander and slander” contained in Goniec's article, he was taking the case to court. “I will demand an apology and a payment of PLN 50,000 to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity,” he wrote.

On Friday, at a press conference, PiS MEP Piotr Muller emphasized that in connection with media reports about financing Joński's material needs, “it would seem a natural move on the part of the political party authorities to at least suspend this type of activist, in this case a member of the European Parliament.”

Muller also appealed to Joński to “show his wardrobe and suits” and to explain who paid for his trips abroad. – We expect hard evidence to be shown in this regard – he emphasized.

– We are sending a notification to the prosecutor's office to secure the material that appeared in this editorial office, to question witnesses, tailors, sellers of phones, ties, glasses, because according to this information, Mr. Joński went to a tailor and a credit card was withdrawn by a repeat offender, said PiS MEP Waldemar Buda, also present at the conference.

According to Buda, Joński, who was “the greatest investigator of scandals during the PiS government, who wrote about corruption”, “supposedly had glasses bought from a criminal.” (PAP)

By the time the cable was published, PAP was unable to contact MEP Joński. We plan to continue the topic.
