The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa'ar, who is on an official visit to Bucharest, met on Tuesday with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the head of Romanian diplomacy, Oana Țoiu.
At the Victoria Palace, the two officials discussed the “excellent” state of bilateral relations, as stated in a Government press release, and about “concrete ways to strengthen cooperation between Romania and Israel, especially in the fields of infrastructure, transport, defense industry, agriculture, cyber security and information technology”.
The Head of the Executive emphasized the “positive dynamics of commercial exchanges” and Romania's intention to expand economic and industrial collaboration.
The Prime Minister reiterated the Government's commitment to combating anti-Semitism, intolerance and hate speech.
“The security situation in the region was also an important point on the agenda of the meeting. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan welcomed the conclusions of the Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, which followed the ceasefire agreement and the release of the hostages”, the Government also transmitted.
Separate meeting at the MAE
For his part, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, had a separate meeting with his Israeli counterpart, in which the two officials had “an open exchange of views” about the need to disarm Hamas, humanitarian aid and access to medical assistance in the Gaza Strip, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, according to News.ro.
“We had an open exchange of views on the need to disarm Hamas, humanitarian aid and access to healthcare in the Gaza Strip, as well as the role of the international community in supporting the ceasefire and President Trump's peace plan. Too many families have suffered enormously and, however difficult this moment may be, we must all contribute to lasting peace and a future in which no child fears for his life,” said Oana I will.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that “the Romanian state remains firmly committed to building the premises for a just and lasting peace, based on the solution of the two states, Israel and Palestine, to coexist in peace and security”.
Referring to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, Minister Oana Ţoiu emphasized the EU-level consensus for continuing to support the authorities in Kiev and presented Romania's multidimensional contribution in this regard.
“He emphasized the importance of respecting the UN Charter, international law and ensuring the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, in order to ensure a just and lasting peace”, the MFA also stated in the statement.
