The head of Norwegian military intelligence, Vice Admiral Nils Andreas Stensoenes, told PAP on Monday that the latest Russian Burevestnik missile is being successfully developed, which is confirmed by another test carried out last week.

Vice Admiral Stensoenes noticed that the Burevestnik, launched from the Arctic training ground on Novaya Zemlya, flew much further this time than during previous attempts.
The new missile in the NATO code is codenamed Skyfall. The nuclear drive used in it is intended to give it unprecedented range and the ability to evade anti-missile systems.
However, the Norwegian officer estimated that the Burevestnik would not enter service quickly.
– Russia has been testing this system since 2016. Some time will pass before its development is completed and the missile becomes part of the armed forces' equipment, Stensoenes said in an interview with PAP.
The Norwegian military has been monitoring Russian and previously Soviet activity in the Arctic for years. The services are to focus special attention on the Novaya Zemlya training ground, 750 km from the border of Norway, where a test of the Skyfall missile, analyzed by the Norwegians, was carried out a week ago.
