23 percent Norwegians aged 16-79 use nicotine products or e-cigarettes every day. Data from the SSB statistical office published on Thursday show that snus completely dominates the Norwegian tobacco market.

One in six people in Norway uses snus every day, while 7 percent still smoke cigarettes.
“There was a turning point in 2018. Snus overtook traditional smoking as the most frequently used tobacco product in Norway. Today, there are more than twice as many snus users as smokers,” commented Sindre Haugen from SSB on the research results.
A total of one third of Norwegians declare that they use nicotine products regularly – every day or occasionally. Young adults are most likely to consume snus. In the 25-34 age group, 35 percent men and 22 percent women admit that they use snus every day.
According to SSB, the increase was seen across all age groups. Over the last 10 years, the percentage of daily snus users over the age of 35 has doubled.
– Snus has become a permanent part of Norwegian nicotine habits – summed up SSB Haugen in a press release.
